My sis, Am, is 3 years younger than me. She's a very busy girl between school, working full-time, her 6 year old son, and-up until earlier this week-a boyfriend...pretty much the only time I get to see her is when she's cutting my hair.
We are, to say the least, very different...always have been. I'd be the one at home (usually reading) while she was the one out with her friends. She's also very independent and has a mind of her own...which is a good thing, don't get me wrong.
Earllier this week she broke up with the guy that she's been seeing for about 3 years. It was a totally surprise to me but I guess she's been unhappy for a while now. She's been very tough about it but earlier tonight (Saturday, I mean) she called me, in tears, to see if our parents would watch M so that we could go out for a drink. (Am's kid was at his grandma's house.) I was touched that she asked me, given the fact that the only time we've spend alone in our adult lives was lunch on Valentine's Day 2 years ago...so I called my friend Cate, who agreed to come over and stay with M.
We had a great time. It was fun to see that side of my sister and I was actually surprised at how outgoing she is. It was nice to feel like we were friends instead of just siblings. The funniest part of the night was when she announced around midnight that she was ready to go NOW. (Am doesn't like to sit still...when she's ready to leave, she leaves) I was home by 12:30 am and she was even thoughtful enough to call me when she got home.
Now if I can get the smell of cigarette smoke out of my levi jacket, I'll be good to go! Hee.
