Yawn

It's a quiet day here at the mortuary.

For all the families NOT losing loved ones, that's a good thing. For those of us who are sitting here at our desks trying to look productive, not so good.

I am bored.

In the year since I started this job (as secretary at a mortuary, receptionist for cemetery) I have been in the middle of a crazy mess. The girl I replaced left abrubtly so there were MOUNDS of papers and files to take care of when I started...and they never seem to go away. We're busy a lot and my to-do list doesn't end just because a funeral is over...there is tons of stuff to do afterward to.

So no matter how slow things get around here, I usually have plenty to keep me busy. The past week and a half, however, things have been so "dead" around here that I'm even running out of little things to do...I'm rationing my busy work, just in case the dry spell continues.

It's not even that we're haven't been making funeral arrangments...no one is calling either. People who are young and perfectly healthy are usually getting insurance policies or starting to purchase their property so they can pay it in chunks...that isn't even happening.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that this place isn't filled with sad people. But it's hard not to think of everything I COULD be doing at home (laundry, cleaning my kitchen, etc.) when I'm just sitting here staring out the front door.

Ah well.

I'm a bit jealous. I would love a boring day. I have about 15 minutes today to myself and I've been madly scrambling to do projects (you may ask where I find time for all this blogging - blame it on slow computer program upload but fast computer internet access).

Hee...yeah, those days when you only have 15 minutes...I hate that.
The bad thing about it being so slow is that it's bound to slam into me this week...I wish it was steady instead of crazy.
Oh well.

I actually went to school to become a mortician, but after failing anatomy TWICE, I decided to follow a career where I didn't need to think.

Radio, it is!!!
